Lucky punter wins £37,349 from £1 bet on four games in Checkatrade Trophy: 'I can't believe it's happened to me!'
- A punter put on his usual four-game both teams to score in both halves bet
- His victory relied upon a 90th-minute goal from Morcambe's Elliot Osborne
- Joe said he was still in shock and hadn't decided how he would spend the money
The Checkatrade Trophy may not be the most popular tournament in world football, but one lucky punter might now see it as his favourite competition.
An engineer from Liverpool called Joe played his usual weekly accumulator - four games with both teams to score in both halves - ahead of Tuesday night's matches.
He was given odds of 37,349/1 by SkyBet and put £1 on the betting slip. And it worked out after a last-minute goal from Elliot Osborne.
A punter from Liverpool called Joe managed to win over £37,000 on a four-game accumulator
But it relied on a goal from Elliot Osborne of Morecambe in the 90th minute of Tuesday's game
The Morcambe player popped up in the 90th minute with a header against Leicester Under 21s to ensure his side had scored in the second half and an impressive win for Joe.
Winner Joe said: 'I place a btts in both halves acca every week, and it was total luck that it's come off for me – I just picked the games randomly.
'I was following the games and it was so tense when I only need the goals in the Leicester game for it to come in.
'I couldn't believe it when Osborne scored in the 90th minute. I need to get in touch with him so I can shake his hand!
'When I see big winners on social media normally I never believe them, and I can't believe it's happened to me.
'I'm still in shock so I haven't decided on what to spend the winnings on.'
The big win for Joe followed a similarly impressive victory over the weekend, when a housewife won £574,278 from a £1 bet.
Oxford's game against MK Dons was another included in the slip during Tuesday's games
