The 24-year-old, who joined from Arsenal in the summer, would have been on a high after netting his first goal for Jurgen Klopp's side in Saturday's 4-1 thrashing of West Ham.

Liverpool's triumph at the London Stadium saw them keep pace in the race for the Premier League's top four, sitting three points adrift.

Following their win though, Oxlade-Chamberlain felt timing was right to pay partner Edwards a visit ahead of their Belfast shows.

Edwards took to Instagram to express her gratitude as the couple, who announced their relationship in January, sat on a swing, with the post accompanied by a heart, while the pair also featured using various filters on the singer's story.

Chamberlain though, will return to Liverpool's Melwood training ground in a slightly subdued mood after missing out on England selection - who face Germany and Brazil in the coming fortnight - after a less than impressive start to his Anfield career.

The Liverpool midfielder was one of many who featured in the previous World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania omitted for the upcoming internationals, including Chris Smalling, Daniel Sturridge and Jermaine Defoe.

While Liverpool's new boy will be disappointed, first team football, or a lack of it, is what England boss Gareth Southgate nailed down as the issue for Chamberlain, as well as others rejected.

The former Gunner has come off the bench in every Premier League appearance but one for Klopp's side, playing no more than 15 minutes on three occasions.

However, things are looking up it seems, with his only league start resulting in a goal and a win. A fact Chamberlain will look to build on come the return of the Premier League in two weeks time.
