'On May 31 next year, I will turn 30. That would be my last big contract and a final opportunity to try something different.'

And Sky Germany report that United and Arsenal have been alerted by Reus' comments and are considering making a move for the Germany international.

Arsenal are bracing themselves for the departure of Alexis Sanchez with the Chilean's contract set to expire this summer and Reus could fit the bill as a ready-made replacement.

Jose Mourinho's United are reportedly also monitoring Reus' progress in Dortmund and could be prepared to offer him a fresh start.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc recently hit out at speculation surrounding Reus by stating: 'We see Marco with us in the long run.'

Reus hasn't featured for his club since damaging his anterior cruciate ligament in Dortmund's 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Cup final back in May.

He only managed 17 league appearances last season and hasn't played 30 Bundesliga matches since the 2013-14 campaign.

Reus has twice won Player of the Season in Germany and has been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Year five times.
