Hibernian boss Neil Lennon looks to prey on anxious Celtic as they look to end Brendan Rodgers' unbeaten run

  • Hibernian came within minutes of beating Celtic just three weeks ago
  • Brendan Rodgers' side are on the break of going 60 matches unbeaten
  • Hibs face Celtic in the semi final of the Betfred League Cup on Saturday

Neil Lennon has urged his Hibs players to prey on any hint of anxiety in Celtic' s ranks at Hampden on Saturday - and secure the victory that would prevent their unbeaten domestic run reaching 60 matches.

Lennon's team came within minutes of beating Brendan Rodgers' Invincibles at Parkhead just three weeks ago, leading 2-1 through a John McGinn double until Callum McGregor's late equaliser.

The Hibs boss, part of a Martin O'Neill-era Celtic side who racked up long winning runs themselves, knows what it's like to be on that side of a record.

And he is certain the current Hoops stars will be feeling the strain if put under pressure.

Lennon, who is confident his team can end Celtic's hopes of a Double Treble in Saturday's Betfred League Cup semi-final, said: 'There will be an anxiety surrounding it (the unbeaten run) the longer it goes on.

'Someone is going to beat them at some stage. We came close but not close enough.

'That wasn't my main aim at Parkhead and it's not my main issue at Hampden; that is to win the game.

'It's irrelevant to me what Celtic's record is, although it is obviously very impressive. We have our own agenda, which is to compete and win.

'I think there will be a huge amount of pride that goes along with their record; you want it to last.

'People talk and talk and talk about it - and sometimes that can nag at the back of your mind, subconsciously, that desire not to lose it.

'Then you can get antsy about it. However, it's up to the opposition to get into a position where they are under pressure. I hope we can do that.

'I want us to take the game to Celtic, be brave - and that can win us the game.'
