Sergio Aguero 'ready' for Manchester City return as Pep Guardiola admits striker will be back for Burnley clash

Sergio Aguero has fully recovered from the fractured rib he suffered in a car crash in Amsterdam last month and is 'ready' to face Burnley on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola revealed the news at his pre-match press conference on Friday, as Manchester City look to continue their impressive form this season.

Aguero has been sidelined since the end of September after the accident, which occurred just two days before City's match against Chelsea.

The Argentine was on his way to the airport to fly back to Manchester at 11pm when his taxi hit a lamp-post near the centre of Amsterdam.

Aguero suffered a fractured rib, but has now fully recovered and will be in Guardiola's Premier League squad on Saturday.

The Spaniard admitted: 'He was ready to start (against Napoli). I think the game against Stoke it was just one training session.

'He could have played but was not completely fit. But the game against Napoli he was ready and of course he is ready for tomorrow.'

City are top of the Premier League, two points ahead of their rivals Manchester United, and are in fine form having won their last league tie 7-2 against Stoke.

In fact, Guardiola's side have netted 29 goals in their eight Premier League matches so far this term, easily the highest scorers in the division.

One man who won't be involved against Burnley this weekend is Vincent Kompany, who Guardiola admits is still no closer to a return.

'Vincent Kompany is not ready,' he said. 'Not yet. Everybody else is okay... everybody is fit.'

Benjamin Mendy, meanwhile, is still recovering from his long-term knee injury, but Guardiola says he is not away from the group and is still integrated.

'Usually, long injury players are sad, they train apart and feel isolated. Benjamin Mendy decided to be present, on social media, Whatsapp.

'He calls his team-mates and messages me. He is going to be so important because people like him make the atmosphere much better.'

City come into the game off the back of a 2-1 Champions League triumph over Napoli, but Guardiola insists his players can improve.

'I said many times the last weeks we played quite good in the last games but always we can improve,' he said.

'I said many times the reason why we are here if we believe it is done there is no sense to keep going, to stay. So always we can do better and hopefully we can maintain that level in the next games.

'I said many times last season we dropped a lot of points at home. That is the reason why we couldn't fight until the end with Chelsea and Tottenham. This season lately at home we are playing well and scoring goals.

'Hopefully tomorrow our fans can be like at Stoke City and Liverpool and support us in the bad moments, because we play a lot of games. After a Champions League game it's always it's complicated to be focused on what we have to do.

'Because the way we play Napoli is different to the way we play Burnley. They have to adapt to specific things they do.'
