Kevin De Bruyne will hold fresh contract talks with Manchester City in the coming months after a stunning start to the season.

The central midfielder can expect to more than double his current £115,000-a-week salary as Pep Guardiola moves to tie De Bruyne down for the best years of his career.

De Bruyne has three more seasons to run on his current deal, taking him to 2021, but City have been told they need to renegotiate terms after his performances under Guardiola.

The Belgium international's agent claimed on Tuesday that City must pay him what he is worth, citing the astronomical money Paris Saint-Germain have lavished on both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Neymar earns around £500,000 a week in the French capital, while Mbappe — still a teenager — takes home more than £300,000.

De Bruyne would command more than £1million a month at the Etihad Stadium, making him one of the highest paid players in Premier League history.

His representative, Patrick De Koster, said: 'In the coming months, I'll meet with City to figure out how to improve and extend his contract.

'His salary? I cannot say. But if you think what Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are being paid, you can picture.'

Guardiola revealed this week he believes De Bruyne can eventually be elevated to the level of the likes of Lionel Messi — but stressed that comes with winning trophies.

De Koster added: 'He can't expect to win the Ballon d'Or at the moment, he's still far from footballers like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

'Everything will depend on how much he can achieve with City, there's still a big difference now.'
