- Harry Kane is currently best paid on £100,000 per week - Alli will ask for more
Dele Alli is ready to put himself on a collision course with Tottenham Hotspur over his proposed new contract.
Plans are in place to improve the midfielder's existing deal, which is worth around £50,000 per week, over the coming months, but those discussions will test Tottenham's rigid pay structure with Alli set to insist on becoming the club's top earner.
Fellow England international Harry Kane is currently Spurs' best paid player with wages in the region of £100,000 per week. Alli will ask for more than that when formal discussions get underway, knowing full well he can get close to £200,000 per week elsewhere.

Tottenham's stringent wage policy has been well documented in recent seasons with many of the club's best players knowing full well they can earn much more elsewhere.
Plans to increase the wage ceiling are afoot but pay rises will be linked to continued success in the Champions League and enhanced revenue from the new stadium.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham would be willing to pay Alli the kind of money he is seeking. The midfielder's performances so far this season have not reached the lofty standards he has set himself.
Indeed, certain figures behind the scenes at Spurs fear Alli is becoming too distracted by off-the-pitch matters.
Sportsmail exclusively revealed in August how Alli was leaving long-term agent Rob Segal, sparking talk of a lucrative move from White Hart Lane. Super-agents Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola are all interested in adding Alli to their client rosters.

Alli, despite his status as one of England's key players, is among the lowest paid players in Gareth Southgate's squad.
Spurs will feel they are in a position of strength with regard to any potential new deal given Alli's existing deal still has five years left to run. Similarly, however, the 21-year-old will not rush into signing a new contract.
The attacker knows he is likely to have a myriad of options in the coming months, particularly if he impresses at next summer's World Cup.
Real Madrid have a concrete interest in Alli and it is understood the midfielder would welcome a switch to the Bernabeu in the future.
