Marouane Fellaini starts the healing process in Antwerp as Manchester United star gets treatment for knee injury picked up playing for Belgium

Marouane Fellaini has sought outside help in his recovery from a knee injury.

The Belgian midfielder sustained the problem - a medial ligament strain - while on international duty and has been ruled out of action for around two weeks.

He has turned to an Antwerp rehabilitation centre in an effort to speed up the process as much as possible.

The Manchester United star was filmed during a session at the Move To Cure facility in the Belgian city, which is described on its own website as specialists 'in the treatment of complex orthopaedic injuries'.

Fellaini was overseen by the centre's staff using a medicine ball and an elastic resistance device.

He has previously worked with Move To Cure founder and well-known physio Lieven Maesschalck, who is currently employed on a freelance basis by the Belgian FA.

Romelu Lukaku used his services last week and Maesschalck has also tended to Eden Hazard, Vincent Kompany and Christian Benteke in the past.

Maesschalck said of Fellaini: 'He's a performance guy. He fights all the time. His character, the duels, never giving up.'  

The Belgium international is expected to be out of action for around two weeks

United, who face Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, do not expect the 29-year-old to be out for a prolonged period of time.

Indeed, manager Jose Mourinho suggested earlier this week that he was not overly concerned by the state of Fellaini's knee.

He told Sky Sports News: 'No blow, no problem. We don't cry with injuries. 

'We may cry with the process that leads to the injuries but we don't cry with the injuries. We just trust the players that are going to play.'

Fellaini's absence will still be felt by United. 

The 29-year-old had been in good form and scored twice in United's last outing, their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, on September 30.
