Real Madrid and Barcelona handed blow as Valencia raise wonderkid Ferran Torres' release clause to £22m

Real Madrid and Barcelona's hopes of signing Ferran Torres' have hit a wall after Valencia increased his release clause from £7million to £22m, according to reports in Spain.

The Valencia wonderkid has become one of Europe's top young prospects after impressing in Spain playing for the club's reserves.

The 17-year-old has been in fine form playing in Segunda Division B for Valencia, resulting in interest from La Liga giants Madrid and Barcelona.

But their chances of successfully pursuing Torres have taken a hit as Super Deporte have reported that Valencia have triggered an option to raise his initial £7m release clause by £15m.


After learning about interest for Torres, Valencia acted very quickly to try and ensure their talented youngster remained on their books.

The Mestalla outfit have also extended the winger's contract and it appears likely that the youngster will remain at Valencia for the time being.

Fellow European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also said to be keen on the player and sent scouts to watch the young talent a year ago.

Torres is currently on duty for Spain at the Under 17 World Cup in India and Valencia are planning on holding fresh talks with him when he returns.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were also reportedly interested in the Spain U19 international

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also said to be keen on the Valencia wonderkid
