Diego Simeone believes that Atletico Madrid's Champions League game against Chelsea on Wednesday night will feature the world's best two goalkeepers in action.

Jan Oblak, 24, replaced Thibaut Courtois, 25, as Atletico No 1 in 2014 after the Chelsea stopper completed the last of three season-long loans in Madrid.

Simeone enjoyed some great times with Courtois, winning the Europa League, La Liga and Copa del Rey, as well reaching a Champions League final.

That is the opinion of Atletico boss Diego Simeone ahead of Wednesday's clash with Chelsea

But the Atletico boss does not miss the Belgian's influence because of the high standard of his replacement.

'Courtois and Oblak are the world's best two goalkeepers,' Simeone told his press conference on Tuesday.

'I don't miss any aspect with Oblak replacing Courtois for us, they are the two best goalkeepers, there is no upgrade from them.'

Chelsea have travelled to Madrid looking to build on a fine start to their European campaign.

The Blues beat Azerbaijani champions Qarabag 6-0 in their Group C opener a fortnight ago, while Atletico claimed a 0-0 draw away to Roma.

Oblak has kept four clean sheets in his last five matches for Atletico, who are famously tight

He replaced Courtois as Atletico's No 1 in 2014 when the Belgian finished his third loan stint
