Carlos Tevez has failed to meet expectations at Shangai Shenhua, according to chairman Wu Xiaohui as the club's struggles in the Chinese Super League continue.
The former Manchester United striker, who earns around £650,000 a week, climbed off the bench to score his side's only goal in their embarrassing 6-1 defeat by rivals Shanghai SIPG on Saturday.
But after issues with Tevez's form and fitness, Wu admits the Argentine has not been the success story the club had hoped for when he signed in January.

'Our intention was to bring in an influential star player with high quality, and we all think Tevez could fit the bill,' Wu told Shanghai TV.
'However, due to a lack of winter training and match fitness, he didn't meet our expectations.'
Tevez has only recently returned to action following a troublesome calf injury, with Shenhua losing all four of their league fixtures so far this season.

New manager Wu Jingui, who replaced Gus Poyet last week, recently slammed Tevez's physical condition, claiming the West Ham favourite needs to lose weight.
'He is overweight, along with [Fredy] Guarin. I have to take responsibility for the team and the players as well,' Wu said.
'If you are unable do your utmost to play, there's no point in picking you. I have coached lots of big stars, and my players are never picked on reputation'.
