Jurgen Klopp has sent a touching message to a young Everton support battling a muscle-wasting disease.

The Liverpool manager put Merseyside rivalries aside to show his support for Blues fan Noah Cunningham, who is fighting Duchenne muscular dystrophy and underwent a 10-hour spinal surgery on Tuesday.

When Klopp bumped into Noah's aunt in a Formby petrol station earlier this week, he quickly accepted the invitation to film a short video for the teenager.

'Your auntie told me that you are, in this moment, not in the best shape but that will change soon I'm sure,' he said.

'I've heard you are a huge Evertonian so hopefully you enjoy this little video.Ā

'All the best and see you later in the next derby.'Ā Ā

Noah's disease affects every muscle in his body, has left him unable to walk or bear weight and will lower his life expectancy - most men afflicted only live into their 20s or 30s.

The Southport native's family are raising money to pay for equipment that will aid his care, including an Ā£11,000 wheelchair and Ā£1,500 hoist.Ā

So far, they have collected more than half of their Ā£50,000 target - and Klopp's contribution will undoubtedly raise the cause's profile.

Once posted to Twitter on Wednesday morning the video quickly went viral, with more than 1,000 retweets circulating it among the Liverpool football-loving population.

It wasn't long before a prominent former Everton player had his own message for Noah.

Ex-Blues striker Kevin Campbell tweeted: 'Respect to Klopp sending Noah the get well message!!! I wish and hope you get better and can get down to Goodison Park Noah!!!'
