  • Short phrase 'Se Queda', meaning he's staying, has been overused this summer
  • It entered football parlance after Gerard Pique tweeted it about pal Neymar
  • Pique was wrong when Neymar joined PSG - but now Thibaut Courtois is at it
  • Chelsea keeper posted picture of him and Diego Costa writing Se Queda

'Se Queda' - two words many English football fans have got to know over the last month, even if they can't speak a word of Spanish.

The short phrase, translated as 'He's staying', became famous after Barcelona's Gerard Pique tweeted a picture of him and Neymar in July - in response to intense speculation the Brazilian was going to leave for PSG.

Despite more than 165,000 retweets the former Manchester United defender's belief his colleague would stay at the Nou Camp proved to be incorrect - even though Pique has since said he knew his pal would leave at the time.

However, Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been at it as well now.

The Belgium tweeted a picture of him and unsettled Diego Costa with the Premier League trophy - using the well-worn phrase 'Se Queda'.

The message is a direct response to the fact wantaway Costa did not leave the West Londoners during the transfer window, which shut yesterday.

And with Stamford Bridge boss Antonio Conte now adding the burly forward to his 25-man Premier League squad to the shock of many - it appears that the former Atletico Madrid man could yet stay with the club, to the relief of many fans who see the powerful striker as a talisman.

However, Costa is still believed to be holed up in his hometown of Lagarto in Brazil and refusing to return to Chelsea after a major fallout with former Juventus and Italy manager Conte.

Leaving Chelsea fans hoping this time 'Se Queda' comes true this time.
