Leicester midfielder Nampalys Mendy has joined former club Nice on loan after just one season with the Foxes.
The 25-year-old, a £13million signing last summer, managed just nine appearances last season with an ankle injury limiting his playing time.
He has now returned to the French club where he played every game for the Ligue 1 side in the 2015-16 campaign.
Nampalys Mendy is set to leave Leicester for Nice a year after departing the French club
Mendy was supposed to be the long-term replacement for N'Golo Kante but struggled to make an impact.
Having developed rapidly at Nice between 2013-16, Mendy will now be returning to familiar surroundings.
The 5ft 6in midfielder has played for France at every youth level since the U18s and is still highly regarded in his home country.
Mendy failed to nail down a place in the first team and made seven appearances last term
Mendy had previously spoken about his desire to sign for Bordeaux this transfer window but the French side cooled their interest.
St Etienne were another to express interest in the Frenchman but he is to join Lucien Favre's side.
Mendy will be hoping to help Nice to an improvement on their impressive third place finish in Ligue 1 last year.
