Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits his side have 'a mental problem we need to fix' after conceding another late goal to draw with Burnley

Mauricio Pochettino admitted his Tottenham players have a 'mental problem' after conceding a second late goal in successive matches.

The Spurs manager was forced once again to defend playing home matches at Wembley, while a new stadium is built in place of White Hart Lane, and instead laid the blame on his players for switching off in the latter stages following a disappointing draw against Burnley.

Tottenham looked to have won the game when Dele Alli scored soon after the break, but Burnley debutant Chris Wood, a club-record £17million signing from Leeds United, came off the bench to level in the second minute of stoppage time.

'We need to work hard to try to be stronger, because that is a mental problem that we need to fix,' Pochettino said.

'It's true that the results are too early to try to analyse what will happen in the future because last season after three or four games you would never have said that Chelsea would be champions.

'That is why in football you have to try to work hard to fix the problems and it is clear we need to improve and increase our mental levels and become more strong.

'At the end, when you are capable to score, 1-0, and you have the chances to kill the game, you must kill it.

'OK, if you do not kill the game, you cannot show that lack of concentration at the end.'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche said: 'Our mentality is purely to keep going until the last breath.

'We've done it many times in my time at Burnley, I believe in the players absolutely every time I put them out there to give everything they can until the last breath of the game and I thought we did that against Tottenham.'
