The 24-year-old was a second-half substitute in Sunday's 2-0 defeat having held discussions with Koeman over his availability at the team hotel on Saturday night.
Speaking after the game, Koeman said: 'I spoke to him yesterday evening and he'd spoken to his father. Today after the game he told me he'd be in contact with his family.
'I don't know really what happened, but he said he was ready and committed. After the game he will talk to his family to see what he needs to do.'
Besic is expected to return to Bosnia to visit his father, who was hurt by two bullets in an attack thought to have taken place in the back yard of his family home in the town of Falesici.

The Everton midfielder was keen to declare himself available for Everton's third game of the week and was called upon at half-time with the Toffees two down to goals from Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata.
'It's always the decision of the player, a family question.
'He showed commitment. He spoke to his family about what happened yesterday. Maybe he will now get off to be with his family for the next couple of days,'Ā Koeman added.
