The Magpies legend posted a photo of his bloodied hand as a result of the incident, which he suffered while holidaying in Quinta do Lago, Portugal.
'Ouch! Bit of a fall off the bike this morning! Wating for results of X-rays,' he wrote on Instagram.
Shearer holds the record as the Premier League's top goalscorer, netting 260 goals during spells at Southampton, Blackburn and Newcastle.
