Young winger Ryan Kent has committed his future to Liverpool after signing a new five-year deal at the club.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Barnsley, having come through the ranks at Anfield since he was seven.

Kent faces a battle to feature in Jurgen Klopp's plans for the new season, but impressed during pre-season.

Speaking to the club website, Kent said:  'It's a big achievement. 


'It's pay off for all the hard work that's been put in over the last few years, so it's a big achievement for me, my mum, my dad, my family and friends that have been with me throughout this big journey. 

'I'm looking forward to kicking on in the future now.'

Kent made 44 appearances in the Championship for Barnsley last season, scoring three times.

He made his Liverpool debut under Klopp in a 2-2 FA Cup draw away at Exeter in January 2016.
