Celtic coach John Kennedy admits the Parkhead club will have to be patient in their pursuit of Patrick Roberts.
The 20-year-old played a key role in the Scottish champions' undefeated campaign last year, scoring nine goals on their way to claiming the treble.
Roberts' form had attracted interest from Southampton and free-spending Nice, however the French club killed off their interest in the player, instead moving swiftly to snare Monaco star Allan Saint-Maximin.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has been persistent on Roberts throughout the summer - admitting he has a desire to re-sign the midfielder - and it is believed they have moved ahead of the pack with Celtic Park his preferred location.
But Kennedy confessed Celtic will just have to keep their fingers crossed and remain patient while City weigh up their proposal.
Brendan Rodgers wishes to re-sign the midfielder following his loan spell last season
The 20-year-old is keen on a move back to Celtic but there has been no movement so far
'We just have to be patient on it,' he said. 'We've made them aware that Patrick had a fantastic time here and there is a lot of admiration for him from our end.
'But Manchester City have him under contract and Patrick has to be involved in that decision as well.
'We just have to be patient and see if something materialises, but at the moment nothing is really happening on it.'
