The striker sustained his injury in April in the final minutes of Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Anderlecht in the semi-final of the Europa League.
It curtailed his season at Old Trafford and as a result, Ibrahimovic was not offered a new deal at United when it expired at the end of the last campaign.
But it is widely expected that United fans could have a chance to see him in a red shirt again.
