Roberto Soldado received a hero's welcome when he arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday for talks after Fenerbahce agreed a deal with Villarreal to sign the striker.
The 32-year-old Spain international began his career at Real Madrid before playing for his hometown club Valencia and Tottenham.
Soldado, who struck nine times in 38 league appearances for Villarreal after returning to La Liga in 2015, will move for around €8 million (£7.2m), according to Spanish reports.

'Completion of the deal is subject to small contract details and the medical tests for the Valencian attacker,' read a Villarreal statement.
Soldado scored four goals for in 11 matches for the La Liga outfit during an injury-marred 2016-17 campaign.
The striker took to Twitter on Wednesday to post a photo of himself next to his wife Rocio Millan, with the caption: 'Road to Istanbul.'
