Juventus are preparing a last-ditch move for their top transfer target, Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

The Italian champions have earmarked the versatile German as an ideal man to strengthen their side in the middle of the pitch but time is running out to conclude a deal.

According to Corriere dello Sport: 'It is a decisive week and the first goal is Can but the margins of manouvre are getting tighter.'

The Italian publication noted: 'At the weekend, the Premier League starts, the Bianconeri will be in Supercoppa: in short, the season will be over.'

If the Turin club were to launch a tempting offer for Can in the coming days, Liverpool's resolve would be tested.

Can's contract is set to expire in 2018 and FSG would be loath to let the 23-year-old leave for free next summer.

Given the ongoing uncertainty with Barcelona's interest in Philippe Coutinho, the club might err on the side of caution and decide against a mini exodus of first team stars with the Premier League kicking off on Saturday.

Despite frustrating occasionally with his inconsistency last season, Can is already a German international and admired by Jurgen Klopp.

He will be in the frame to start for the Reds as they begin the new campaign against Watford at Vicarage Road and Liverpool fans will hope his head has not been turned by Massimiliano Allegri's interest.
