The Old Trafford captain insisted it would be a big achievement to lift the trophy
'It's hugely important,' he said, as reported by Goal.com. 'I don't think you can underestimate what we've been through to get to this stage and to play this game.
'It is a big achievement to be part of it. So we are taking it very seriously.
'It is a massive trophy to win at the start of the season and it can kickstart your season. It would be terrific for us.
'It is not one I have managed to win and not sure if anyone in our squad so we are all desperate to win it.'
Carrick and United qualified for the game in Skopje, Macedonia, by winning the Europa League
United have only won the Super Cup once in their history - back in 1991 - when they beat Red Star Belgrade 1-0 courtesy of a strike from Brian McClair.
They qualified for this year's edition by winning the Europa League last season.
The Old Trafford side will be looking to improve on their sixth-place Premier League finish last campaign when they start their domestic season against West Ham on Sunday.
