Barcelona and Real Madrid to battle it out with Manchester City for £178m Kylian Mbappe after forward 'decides to leave Monaco this summer'

Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave Monaco, sparking a battle between Real Madrid and Barcelona for his signature.

The 18-year-old, who led Leonardo Jardim's side to the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League semi-finals last season, has been the subject of interest from a host of European giants this summer.

After seeing the likes of Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva leave the club, L'Equipe report that the striker has also decided to leave Stade Louis II - with Real and Barcelona set to fight to secure his services.

The French paper report that a meeting has already taken place between Mbappe's representatives and the Catalan club, who are on the hunt for a forward with Neymar set to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old Brazilian is on the verge of a world-record £198million move to Ligue 1, just four years after joining from Santos for £75.2m.

After Monaco raised their asking price to £178m, Jardim claimed that Mbappe was 'focused' ahead of the new league season.

'All the young players who were here last year and had a great season, Fabinho,(Thomas) Lemar, Kylian, we're talking about them joining other clubs, but they stay focused,' he said.

But Mbappe is reportedly keen to leave the Principality club before the end of this summer's transfer window.

He had been a target for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola's side now face even stiffer competition in the race to sign the forward, who scored 26 goals last season.
