Girona 0-0 Brighton: Seagulls fire a blank as Glenn Murray is sent off

Brighton forward Glenn Murray was sent off as his side failed to score against La Liga new boys Girona.

Both teams are gearing up for the new season following promotion and each had chances to break the deadlock in what proved to be a hard-fought draw.

The striker was again involved soon after but narrowly missed Jamie Murphy's cross from the right. 

Pascal Gross, who joined from Ingolstadt this summer, saw his shot saved by Gorka Iraizoz as Brighton continued to knock on the door in the first half. 

Lewis Dunk was next to have an attempt on goal but his header was cleared by Girona. 

Brighton finally found the net 13 minutes from time but the linesman raised is flag to rule out Murphy's effort. 

Murray then received his first yellow card for dissent after suffering a knock to the head before he was given his marching orders for a high foot on Pere Pons five minutes from time.  

Chris Hughton's side kick off their maiden Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City on August 12.
