Victor Lindelof has been speaking to MUTV after the match, and the new Sweden centre-back is happy to have got experience of a new system, after United played three at the back in the second half.

He said: 'I think we did a good match overall. We kept the ball and had good possession. We played against a good team.

'Pre-season has gone OK. It's been a good chance for me to get to know the players and the systems. I think we did the three at the back well, and we put a lot of pressure on them in midfield.

'It's very important when you come to a new club to get to know the new players and these systems. It gives us good confidence, and it's very good for the future.'

MIKE KEEGAN: Manchester United came through their least taxing pre-season work out so far with a simple victory against mid-table Norwegian side Valerenga. 

United dominated the chances and possession from start to finish, and finally took a deserved lead just before half time when Marouane Fellaini's header was deflected past the goalkeeper. 

Romelu Lukaku came on at half time and within two minutes doubled the lead, before young striker Scott McTominay impressed by holding off a defender to turn and fire home from six yards.

FT: It's been a good work out and polished performance from United in Oslo. It's finished 3-0.

88 mins: It's bound to be harder for United against Sampdoria on Wednesday in Dublin.

Valerenga have created very few chances, but Mourinho will be happy with how his side have gelled in the second half with the extra man in midfield.

We may well see the three-man defence used over the course of the season.

84 mins: McTominay has looked very assured in the centre of midfield with Fosu-Mensah giving Mourinho plenty of food for thought down this right side. 

81 mins: Just under 10 minutes to go. Jose Mourinho will be hoping his side can keep their clean sheet intact. The home crowd would love to see a goal from their side, and they've made a few more changes themselves with Zahid making way.

77 mins: Real mix-up at the back for Valerenga and McTominay has the chance to get a second. Tollas spares the blushes of the substitute goalkeeper Marcus Sandberg, as the defender blocks the goal bound shot.

76 mins: That's a bit naughty from former Manchester City midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim on McTominay and he rightly goes into the book.

Mithcell then produces a superb ball from the left, but there's no-one on the end of it.

74 mins: Valerenga have produced a tired second-half performance and they are very nearly punished again as Lukaku bursts forward and unleashes a fierce right-footed shot that is about a yard wide of the left-hand post.

70 mins: Well, right on cue Scott McTominay has produced a brilliant finish.

More good work from Martial as he goes on a powerful run before feeding the ball into the youngster, who is too strong for the defender, bursting clear of the challenge before slotting a delightful shot the keeper's top right corner.

The crowd loved that.

66 mins: Chris Smalling has the armband on now following the withdrawal of Pogba. The likes of Mitchell and McTominay will look to show glimpses of their potential in this final third of the game.

64 mins: What a glorious chance for Ghayas Zahid. He's picked out on the edge of the box, but his effort is still rising.

He's the club's top scorer and so they wouldn't have wanted the ball to drop to anyon else, but he fluffed his chance!

61 mins: Scott McTominay is on for the impressive Paul Pogba. There's also been a change in goal as Romero is replaced by Joel Pereira.

58 mins: Robert Lundstrom is next to receive a yellow card after a cynical foul on Martial. The forward had escaped him with another nice touch around the corner, and Lundstrom felt he had no option but to haul him down.

55 mins: Pogba is enjoying himself with his party tricks, and Martial then drops his shoulder on another slaloming run, but Valerenga manage to clear the ball. Pereira is late as he tries to stop the counter-attack and he goes into the referee's book.

51 mins: Martial has made a lively start, winning the corner in the build-up to Lukaku's goal, and he rises to meet Fosu-Mensah's cross but can't get over his header as the ball sails harmlessly over.

47 mins: Well he's been bought to score goals, and he's looked good in pre-season.

Romelu Lukaku needs just two minutes to score his third goal for his new club, rising at the near post to head home. It was another great leap from a Belgian and either side of half-time United have cruised into control.

46 mins: Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe make up the back three with Andreas Pereira and Demetri Mitchell also in the side.

46 mins: United get us back underway after wholesale changes. Anthony Martial is on the fireld, with the side now deploying a three-man backline.

We'll provide you with all the changes as we get them, but Romelu Lukaku and Ander Herrera are both on, as Pogba takes the armband off Michael Carrick.

HT: United took a little while to get going, but after just one minute of stoppage time, it is they who lead at the break.

Time for some half-time entertainment...

44 mins: United were just stepping things up, and they deservedly take the lead on the stoke of half-time through Marouane Fellaini.

The Belgian gets up to meet Mkhitaryan's cross, and his firm header is goal bound, but a big deflection off Tollas leaves Kwarasey with absolutely no chance.

44 mins: Rashford has a good battle in the bottom corner with Tollas and having initially lost the ball, Rashford retrieves it and the ball is worked for Mata on the edge of the box, but his shot is well blocked.

42 mins: Rashford is OK to continue as we head into the final five minutes of the first half. We're expecting some changes at the interval, and hopefully some goals thereafter.

39 mins: Mkhitaryan puts in a low ball that Blind looks to meet at the near post, but the Dutchman can't get enough purchase on his flicked effort, and the ball trickles wide.

Rashford received a muscular challenge in the back from Enar Jääger in the build up, and he now receives some treatment.

38 mins: United are a bit unfortunate as Mkhitaryan is ruled offside when he was fractionally onside. Moments later, the flag goes up again as the Armenian again runs from deep to meet Pogba's pass. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt that second time.

35 mins: Pogba has been the best player on the pitch by quite a distance so far, and he tries to trick his way through two defenders keeping him company in the far corner. No free-kick but he managed to get a nutmeg in there, much to the delight of the crowd.

Valerenga are actually unbeaten in their last eight games, and they're proving a hard nut to crack so far.

32 mins: Ronny Deila is managing Valerenga these days, and despite winning the league with Celtic, he was deemed unsuccessful in Scotland due to the club's performances in Europe.

The last time these two sides faced each other was in 2012. Not to put a curse on this evening, but that finished 0-0...

29 mins: United are faced by a sea of blue shirts every time they get to the edge of the Valerenga penalty area, and this time Rashford looks to bend a shot into the bottom corner, but it is wide of the post.

27 mins: More patient build-up from United with the ball sprayed along the pitch and everyone getting a touch of it before Mata finds Blind, but the cross is cleared.

The Valerenga defence are doing well to crowd their opponents out and forcing them to take long distance shots. Pogba is next to try his luck, but it's straight down the throat of Kwarasey.

23 mins: Mkhitaryan is in a lot of pain. He went in for a challenge with Agyiri and there was a clear knock of knees. He slams the wet turf and physios are immediately onto the pitch.

He looks like he will be OK to continue, but it was a painful one.

22 mins: United's turn to pop the ball around again with Carrick and Pogba combining well to tee up Mkhitaryan, but his shot on the half volley from 25 yards is wild and handsomely over the bar. 

20 mins: Ghayas Zahid shows his array of skills on the edge of the penalty area, but he eventually loses it and Valerenga defender Tollas is forced into more work to muscle Rashford off the ball.

The game is opening up now after both sides have felt each other out in the first 20 minutes.

17 mins: Brilliant feet from Pogba to make space for himself for that shot. He hit the woodwork a lot last season, so he'll hope he's getting it all out of his system before this coming campaign starts.

Fellaini continues to impress in midfield with a lovely piece of skills to flick the ball over the head of his opposite man. You get the feeling an opening goal for United isn't far away.

13 mins: Free-kick to United after Pogba is fouled by Magus Lekven. The Frenchman is lining this one up...

It's into the wall, but in the ensuing phase of play, the ball falls at the feet of the former Juventus midfielder again, and his curling left-foot shot strikes the post!

12 mins: Was that handball? Marcus Rashford thinks so, as the ball appears to strike the hand of captain Jonatan Tollas. He looks across to the linesman but he's very unlikely to get that kind of decision.

It deflected up and brushed the hand, by there was no intent.

10 mins: Pogba looks to release Rashford over the top but he is deemed to have fouled the Valerenga centre-half. 

9 mins: The Norwegians have played 16 games so far in their season (6 wins, five draws and five defeats). They're someway off leaders Rosenborg, who held Celtic in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier last week.

There's a bit of context for you as Darmian's cross is over-hit and goes out for a goal-kick.

7 mins: Valerenga have been popping the ball around on the slick surface. The British summer weather appears to have made its way to Norway, with a lot of water on the surface. The ball has already skipped out of play a few times.

5 mins: Ernest Agyiri has shown some nice touches in the early stages of this one, and he nearly bursts straight through the United midfield before Carrick cleans up with a back-pass to Romero.

3 mins: Carrick is stationed in front of the back four, with Pogba and Fellaini pushed further along. The Belgian finds Mata who releases a nice ball over the top for Mkhitaryan in the inside left channel.

The Armenian has his first sight of goal and he forces Kwarasey into an early save. That will do his confidence the world of good. He's only just signed from Brondby.

1 min: Valerenga get us going in Oslo. The side seventh in their league have an early free-kick.

MIKE KEEGAN IN OSLO: Valerenga get us underway in a nowhere-near full Ullevaal Stadion. The capacity here is 28,000 and I’d guess there’s less than 25,000 in. Perhaps America isn’t the only place that needs to look at its pricing structure…

Ahead of kick-off, both sets of players and officials have shown their support against racism, by holding aloft large red cards.

A nice touch before we get underway.

The players walk out onto the field. United are in their grey third strip. Scandinavia is a hotbed of United support. We saw it in Sweden last year with the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and we see it again today.

Even though it's Valerenga's home stadium, United will have the edge in terms of support.

There's been a late change to the United starting line-up as Matteo Darmian starts in place of Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

There was also some bizarre spelling on the official teamsheet submitted...

There's a bit of live music currently going on at the ground, and here's a nice picture of the man himself Ronny Johnsen shaking hands with Jose Mourinho ahead of kick-off.

Incidentally, Ander Herrera has been honoured with an award prior to us getting underway. The Spaniard was voted player of the year for the 2016-17 season by the club's Scandinavian fanbase.

Lindelof is the 14th Scandinavian to join the club, and it is no surprise that this game sold out very quickly.

It follows the likes of Henning Berg, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ronny Johnsen in making the switch to the Theatre of Dreams.

Johnsen ended his career at Valerenga having played for United between 1996 and 2002, forming part of the treble-winning side in 1999.

He told MUTV: 'For me, it's fantastic for the supporters in Norway. United have a huge following, and here they meet my former club. It's a special day. They were here in 2012 too. It's close to the season starting so it's an important game.

'It's the middle of the season for Valerenga, they're on a two-week break at the moment. Their season so far has been OK, but they're picking up now. It'll be a good test for United.'

DEREK HUNTER: Marco Silva has revealed he sounded out Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho before agreeing to become the new manager at Watford. 

Silva was officially unveiled as Watford boss on Thursday after he decided against staying with relegated Hull City. 

Silva has become Watford’s ninth head coach in five years and the 40-year-old said he had consulted fellow Portuguese Mourinho before agreeing to take charge at Vicarage Road.

Mourinho has confirmed to MUTV that he will try out two different formations in Oslo, with the four-man backline reverting to three in the second period.

United jetted into Norway earlier on Sunday for the friendly at the Ullevaal Stadium, with Fellaini now confirmed as starting the match despite interest from Galatasaray.

Mourinho's men have two further trips to make before the season gets underway with a home game with West Ham on Sunday August 13.

United will clash with Sampdoria at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on August 2, before a trip to Skopje in Macedonia to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 8. 

Mata makes his first appearance after limping off with an injury against Real Salt Lake on July 18.

He will soon be joined by a former Chelsea team-mate at Old Trafford, with the club expected to confirm the arrival of Nemanja Matic for £40million imminently.

Victor Lindelof hasn't had the most comfortable of starts for United, and Mourinho has opted to start with Phil Jones alongside Eric Bailly this evening. 

It looks like United will be using a 4-3-3 formation, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Daley Blind in the full-back positions.

Carrick, Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini make up the three-man midfield with Juan Mata returning from injury to take up his place further forward with Henrikh Mkhitaryan supporting Rashford.

Sergio Romero gets the nod in goal from the start today as David De Gea has not travelled to Norway.

The Spaniard has remained at home along with Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia, but the three are expected to be back for the friendly with Sampdoria on Wednesday.

Michael Carrick captains the side in midfield, while Marcus Rashford is preferred from the start instead of Romelu Lukaku.
