Manchester United have had a pool specially installed at their training base in Los Angeles to cool off between sessions.

Jose Mourinho has been putting his players through punishing double training at Drake Stadium on the UCLA campus with temperatures hitting record levels in south California over the last week.

United wanted to give their players a chance to relax and realised it would not be possible to drive them back and forth to the team hotel - the Montage in Beverley Hills - between sessions.

United are currently in Los Angeles on their pre-season tour - training at the UCLA campus

The Red Devils squad are enduring punishing double training sessions in the Californian heat

The club requested for a temporary pool to be built next to the training pitch and it was installed on Monday, 24 hours after the tour party landed in Los Angeles.

United also have two paddling pools by the side of the pitch so their players can have ice baths to aid their recovery after training.

The Premier League club have been attracting celebrity fans while working out at UCLA. Julia Roberts brought her two sons, Finn and Henry, and daughter Hazel to training earlier this week.

As well as a swimming pool United also have two paddling pools by the side of the pitch

United's staff, who are staying at the Beverley Wilshere hotel where Roberts' most famous film Pretty Woman was filmed, were surprised to discover that the two boys knew the name of every player.

Two actors from hit TV show Game of Thrones have also been down to meet the squad. Iain Glen, who plays Ser Jonah Mormont, and Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys, both chatted with the players.

United face LA Galaxy in the early hours of Sunday morning and will continue to be based in LA even when they fly out to play Real Salt Lake in Utah and Manchester City in Houston.
