Alexis Sanchez enjoys long-awaited holiday with stunning Chilean girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez

Alexis Sanchez was finally able to enjoy some down time after a full season and Confederations Cup, as the Arsenal forward relaxed on holiday with his girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez.

The happy couple posed for pictures in an idyllic setting which Sanchez then posted on his Instagram story.

Rodriguez, 28, is a famous actress in Chile and the pair are only thought to have been together a matter of months.

The Arsenal forward shared a video with his followers on an Instagram story 

Sanchez seemed to be enjoying the opportunity to unwind after an arduous few months for Arsenal and his national side, posing in the resort and on a wooden deck.

The 28-year-old is understood to have made his mind up on his future but is yet to reveal what that is. 

While the rest of his team-mates are back on tour in Australia with pre-season in full swing, Sanchez's break was delayed by Chile's participation in Russia but Arsene Wenger expects the relentless attacker to return.

On Tuesday the Frenchman said: 'The players come back and we expect them to respect their contracts.

'Nobody knows today if Sanchez will be in the final year of his contract next season, because he can as well extend his contract with us at the start of the season or during the season,' he added.

If Sanchez does decide to commit to Arsenal, fans will expect him to offer the same ferocious desire they have been accustomed to seeing since he joined in 2014.

The 28-year-old is known to have a love of dogs, as does her other half Sanchez
