Jose Mourinho will have more chances to extend his great interest in tennis through his management company's latest joint venture.

Agent Jorge Mendes, whose clients include Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Costa, is forming a partnership between his football business Gestifute, boutique tennis agency StarWing and Chinese company Fosun to broaden their presence in Asia and other sports.

The deal will help Lawrence Frankopan's StarWing, who look after triple Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils, increase their appeal to a range of players. Fosun is owned by Chinese billionaire Guo Guangchang, who has bought Championship club Wolves.

Mourinho, a regular spectator at Queen's and the ATP World Tour Finals, has just starred in a Jaguar commercial with Andy Murray in which the Manchester United manager plots to steal the Wimbledon trophy. When Wimbledon announced Jaguar as their official car, ambassador Mourinho visited the club for the first time and was shown around by Tim Henman.

Mendes also likes tennis and helped to create the Estoril Open after the Portugal Open folded due to a lack of sponsorship. Portugal's top player Joao Sousa is on his books.

The BBC's Wimbledon highlights show hit a new low this week when neither presenter Clare Balding nor co-pundit Annabel Croft asked Boris Becker about the day's big issue — John McEnroe comparing Novak Djokovic's off-court problems with those of Tiger Woods. The question cried out to be asked because Becker, formerly Djokovic's coach, had mentioned spending more time with Novak than his wife and the Serb playing better when he was free of family problems.

Liverpool footballer Adam Lallana was somehow allowed into the Lord's pavilion without wearing a tie — strictly against regulations — to have photographs taken with Joe Root, Moeen Ali and Liam Dawson. An MCC spokesman said: 'The picture was taken five feet into the building and he didn't go further, so not an issue.' However, England Cricket tweeted a picture of Root talking to Lallana at the top of a staircase.

Wimbledon commercial chief Mick Desmond says it is up to Wimbledon Park Golf Club to make the next move over a proposed deal for their 73-acre site across the road from the All England Club. That suggests Wimbledon's £25million offer for the golfers to cut short their lease and vacate the land by 2020 instead of 2041 is still on the table. The golf club members want more money. Desmond also revealed the AEC would look at buying another house in Bathgate Road bordering the practice courts. The property they purchased for £3m last year is being used by chairman Philip Brook and other dignitaries. It includes floor-to-ceiling wine racks, so nobody will go thirsty there.

Leaked emails revealing David Beckham's fury at not receiving a knighthood don't seem to have done any lasting damage to the brand. Beckham has just signed a £4m-a-year sponsorship with Rolex off-shoot Tudor and was sporting one of their watches for his Royal Box appearance on Friday. More good news for the 42-year-old is that his Miami franchise in Major League Soccer is on course to enter the league in 2019.

Former ICI chief Sir Ronnie Hampel, a Royal Box guest on Friday, is the only Briton to have membership of golf's R&A and Augusta National, cricket's MCC and the All England Club. Meanwhile, Masters champion Sergio Garcia wore his Green Jacket at Wimbledon on Friday and hopefully it will make another appearance when he attends next week's Golf Writers' Dinner at Birkdale.
