Leicester City make bid for Coventry's George Thomas as they look to pip Newcastle and Swansea to forward

  • The 20-year-old is out of contract but Coventry would be due compensation

  • Leicester have moved swiftly, launching a £450,000 offer for the forward 

Leicester City have made a £450,000 offer for Coventry City forward George Thomas.

The 20-year-old is out of contract and has also attracted interest from Swansea City, Burnley and Newcastle United.

Coventry are due compensation but clubs have approached them to try and reach agreement rather than going to a tribunal.

Thomas has been with Coventry since the age of nine and the Wales U20 international scored the winning goal in their EFL Trophy victory over Oxford United.


He has made 36 first-team appearances for the Sky Blues since making his debut for the club in January 2014. 

Leicester have also spoken to Sassuolo about their French striker Gregoire Defrel and have made an offer to Manchester City for Kelechi Iheanacho.
