Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has opened the door for Ivan Perisic to move to Manchester United this summer by admitting he won't 'convince' any players to stay.
Spalletti has only just joined the San Siro club from Roma, and one of his first jobs will be to sort the futures of some of his star players ahead of next season.
But rather than putting his foot down regarding Perisic leaving for Old Trafford, as has been rumoured, instead the Inter boss took a different approach.
Ivan Perisic could leave Inter Milan this summer, with Manchester United interested in him
New Inter boss Luciano Spalletti says he will not try to convince any of his players to stay
'We shouldn't convince anyone to stay at Inter,' he told reporters.
'I am already convincing others to join Inter and that is the most we can aspire to do.
'If someone is not convinced, he is good to go and play where he feels more motivated.'
Inter are believed to be holding out for around €50million (£44m) for Perisic, with Jose Mourinho the most keen to sign the 28-year-old.
Perisic, a Croatia international with 56 caps, would likely cost around £44million this summer
United want to add attacking firepower after releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic after one season
Perisic has been in Serie A for two years after joining from Wolfsburg, but his initial five-year contract makes it an expensive option for clubs in the Premier League and beyond.
The exit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic summer, as well as the uncertainty surrounding Wayne Rooney and a number of other United players, means Mourinho is keen to add an option in the attacking third.
The promise of Champions League football will increase the club's chances of signing star players as they look to challenge for the league title next season.
