Premier League clubs have confirmed their retained lists for next season - with players missing knowing they are out of contract this summer and have been released.

This year includes some big names, including John Terry, whose exit from Chelsea was made official when his name appeared on the free transfer list.

Also named is Joey Barton, who leaves Burnley after being banned from football for 18 months for gambling offences.

Arsenal flop Yaya Sanogo's spell at the Emirates Stadium is over after the club confirmed he will be released this summer.

Sanogo made 20 competitive appearances for Arsenal, including in the 2014 FA Cup final victory over Hull City, but only scored one goal for the club.

The French forward moved to London from Auxerre in 2013, but had not scored for Arsenal since November 2014, when he struck against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

He spent long spells out with injury and away from Arsenal on loan, and earlier this week said he would be leaving the club permanently, saying his 'adventure' had ended.

Sanogo is not the only senior Premier League striker seeking a new club, after Everton announced they are releasing Arouna Kone.

Kone made marginally more impact at Everton than Sanogo managed at Arsenal, scoring 10 goals in 62 appearances.

Also out the exit door is Martin Caceres at Southampton, the Uruguay international and former Juventus defender, who made only one league start for the Saints.

Caceres joined Southampton in February as a free agent after a long term knee injury, but was not able to make an impact.

Among the most prolifically ruthless clubs are Crystal Palace and Manchester City, who have released several first team players each.

Willy Caballero, Gael Clichy, Jesus Navas and Bacary Sagna are among those not kept on by Pep Guardiola at City, with a new wave of younger signings such as Bernardo Silva and Ederson arriving at the club.

Palace meanwhile have let a number of established Premier League players go, including Fraizer Campbell and Joe Ledley.

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has also left Selhurst Park, as has Jonathan Benteke, brother of Christian.

Wales international Joe Ledley has also been released by Crystal Palace, along with others
