Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with £45m for Inter Milan forward Ivan Perisic, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Jose Mourinho has stepped up his bid to bolster United's attacking options after long-term target Antoine Griezmann appeared to reaffirm his allegiance to Atletico on Thursday.

Upon the news of Atletico's transfer ban being upheld, the Frenchman shared a picture of himself on Twitter in an Atletico shirt, alongside the caption: 'Now more than ever #Atleti #AllTogether.'

Now Jose Mourinho has stepped up his bid to bolster United's attack as early as possible

Now the United boss is seemingly ramping up his efforts to bring players to the club early, as he prefers to do, with Chelsea also interested in signing the Croatia international.

Inter appear resigned to the fact that Perisic will leave the club this summer, with the Premier League his likely destination.

Although the season has been a disappointing one for Inter, finishing seventh in Serie A, it has been another impressive campaign for the Croatian.

Perisic scored 11 goals and contributed 11 assists during the campaign after an impressive showing for his country in Euro 2016 — alerting the radars of Europe's elite.

And the Italian club need to sell in order to balance the books and stay in accordance with FIFA's Financial Fair Play laws.

Gazzetta also report that personal terms between the player and United have already been agreed — leaving the asking price the only remaining negotiation between the two clubs.
