Arsenal will target one more January signing after Mohamed Elneny as Arsene Wenger says Santi Cazorla back in February

  • Mohamed Elneny set to join Arsenal in a £5million deal from Basle
  • Arsene Wenger did not rule out a second signing in the January window
  • Wenger also said Santi Cazorla could return to action in mid-February

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims his side will make 'maximum two' signings in the January transfer window as the Frenchman looks to enhance his side's title credentials.

Arsenal had to a grind out a hard 1-0 victory against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday thanks to a goal from Laurent Koscielny and the victory saw them move two points clear of Leicester at the summit of the Premier League.

And Wenger has since revealed that the club's injury list is relenting players while he is active in the transfer market.

'I don’t give much away (about transfers) because I don’t know,' Wenger said.

'I want to talk about them and hopefully we are capable of doing something in the next 10 days. It’s more about quality than quantity because our players will not stay out injured forever.

'Francis Coquelin is starting to run, Santi Cazorla will be back in mid-February, and Mikel Arteta is back now so, hopefully, if we can add one and, if needed, two maximum.'

Mohamed Elneny is expected to be the first addition for Wenger next week, when he is expected to complete a £5million switch from Swiss club Basle.
