The 22-year-old's return comes as a huge relief to Arsene Wenger, whose has been beset by injury problems in recent weeks.

The former Southampton man's return may allow Wenger to hand Alexis Sanchez a rest in the coming weeks.

Midfielder Francis Coquelin is out for at least two months after damaging knee ligaments during Saturday's defeat at West Brom, but Aaron Ramsey is back in the first-team fold after training on Monday.

Ramsey was named on the bench for Tuesday night's Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb.

On the pair Wenger said: 'Coquelin will be out beyond the new year. It is at least two months, but we have had so many bad surprises that I do not want to speculate more than that.

'Ramsey has only had one training session with the team. Until the Sheffield Wednesday game we had a good injury record but we have lost a few since.'

However, Francis Coquelin is expected to miss at least two months of the campaign with a knee injury
