Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claims UEFA 'basically accept doping' after failing to get Dinamo Zagreb defeat overturned

Arsene Wenger claims UEFA has endorsed the use of drugs in sport after failing to overturn the result of their Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb.

The Arsenal chief even hinted that UEFA chiefs deliberately targeted his club after doping officials made a random visit to the training ground on Friday.

Arsenal's hopes of qualifying for the second round are hanging by a thread after they were beaten 2-1 in Zagreb in their opening group game. They have also lost against Olympiacos and Bayern Munich.

Dinamo midfielder Arijan Ademi has been banned for four years by UEFA after failing a doping control after the victory in September, but no action has been taken against the Croatian team.

Wenger said: 'I do not want to speculate too much on the career of a player. There are two things: performance on the day and a doped player.

'UEFA propose the rule but I do not agree with it. The result stands which means you basically accept doping. As a result we had a doping control on Friday from UEFA.'

Arsenal must beat Dinamo to keep the faint hopes of qualifying out of the group behind Bayern Munich in second.

The Gunners will have Aaron Ramsey (centre left) back in the squad after returning from injury

Midfielder Francis Coquelin is out for at least two months after damaging knee ligaments during Saturday's defeat at West Brom, but Aaron Ramsey returns to the squad after training on Monday.

On the pair Wenger said: 'Coquelin will be out beyond the new year. It is at least two months, but we have had so many bad surprises that I do not want to speculate more than that.

'Ramsey has only had one training session with the team. Until the Sheffield Wednesday game we had a good injury record but we have lost a few since.'

However, Francis Coquelin is expected to miss at least two months of the campaign with a knee injury
