Alexis Sanchez injury concerns Arsene Wenger as Arsenal star joins up with Chile team-mates ahead of international duty

Arsenal will stay in close contact with Chile medical staff over the fitness of star man Alexis Sanchez.

The forward, who has scored six goals in his last three games for the Gunners, sustained a groin injury in the win over Manchester United.

Nevertheless, Sanchez has flown to Chile ahead of the mouth-watering clash against Brazil on Friday and next week's encounter against Peru.

The Gunners medical team are confident the injury is not serious, but the player will be re-assessed by his country's staff this week.

And Arsenal will hold regular dialogue with their Chilean counterparts this week to ensure no risks are taken with their in-form forward.

Arsene Wenger is understandably concerned about Sanchez's fitness ahead of the international fixtures and will receive regular updates from his medical team ahead of the player's return next week.

After a slow start to the season, Sanchez finally looks to have hit top gear.

He followed up his hat-trick against Leicester with a brace against Louis van Gaal's men on Sunday.

And the Gunners do not want anything to disrupt Sanchez's return to form as they look to keep pace at the top of the Premier League and claw their way back into the Champions League reckoning.
