Manchester United are bracing themselves for a last minute offer from Real Madrid for goalkeeper David de Gea.

But the the Spaniard, despite being desperate to leave for Real, will not force a move to the Bernabeu knowing he'll net a whopping £12million pay day to join the La Liga club next summer.

United believe Real will make a formal offer for De Gea before Tuesday's 6pm transfer deadline, a bid that would put the ball firmly in the Old Trafford club's court.

Louis van Gaal values De Gea at £35million and has been determined to recoup the full price tag.

But Real's offer is likely to come in under that amount, however, the Spanish club hope United will accept a lower amount as the threat of losing him for nothing next year looms large.

De Gea has been sidelined at the start of the season, with Van Gaal fearing the keeper has lost focus due to his desire to return to the Spanish capital.

Nevertheless, De Gea will not force his way out of Old Trafford this week despite his wish to leave.

The shot-stopper is confident he eventually become Real No 1, even if he has to wait until next summer to make his dream a reality.

And given he is available on a free transfer next year, De Gea knows he is in line for a hefty signing-on fee if he moves to Madrid next season.

Similarly, De Gea, despite his current position on the peripheries of Van Gaal's plans, is confident he will reclaim his position back from Sergio Romero once the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
