Chelsea ace Lampard set to snub Lazio and Monaco for LA Galaxy
Frank Lampard is poised to sign for LA Galaxy this summer after reaching agreement with the MLS club.
The 34-year-old Chelsea idol has been courted by Lazio, Monaco and super-rich Chinese side Ghuizho Renhe but is ready to snub their offers for the chance of becoming the new poster boy of the American league on around £4million a year.
LA story: Frank Lampard could be soon swapping frozen Britain for sunny California
Lampard expressed an interest in playing Stateside during Chelsea's tour of North America last summer. Galaxy had originally targeted Real Madrid's Kaka but soon switched to Lampard once it became clear Chelsea were not renegotiating his contract.
Interim manager Rafa Benitez was keen for the free-scoring midfielder to be offered an extension but it is understood the decision was already made before the Spaniard was appointed.
English clubs would like to convince Lampard to stay in the Premier League but he now seems to have made up his mind America is where he will finish his career.
Open to offers: Lampard, here with girlfriend Christine Bleakley, will be free agent in summer
LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena refused to be drawn on Lampard directly but did not refute suggestions a deal was in place.
He said: 'I wouldn't be surprised if over the next week or so we're going to have some sort of decision we're going to make with a Designated Player. We wouldn't rule a move for Lampard out. It's always a possibility.'
Lampard soaked up the atmosphere at Galaxy's Home Depot Centre as Beckham's guest last July following Chelsea's Champions League success.
He will team up at Galaxy with former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane.
Beckham, meanwhile, is again being courted by Monaco who were initially struggling to come up with a suitable financial package for the 37-year-old
