United, City and Spurs could be pipped to Sneijder after Galatasaray open talks with Inter

Manchester United, City and Tottenham's pursuit of Wesley Sneijder could be foiled by Galatasaray.

The Turkish club's president had dinner with Inter chief Massimo Moratti on Monday night and said they discussed whether they could acquire the Holland midfielder.

'I had dinner with Massimo Moratti in Italy, on Monday,' he told GSTV. 'We spoke about how we can co-operate on football academies.

'The Wesley Sneijder topic was also on table. I can say we made positive progress on the prospect of signing Sneijder.

'I suppose it will be clear in a few days. We will negotiate the terms and hopefully get a discount on Sneijder's fee.

'If they will agree on our offer financially then this move will be finalised.'

Sneijder has been left out of the Inter team since late September, after refusing to slash his £4.8million-a-year salary by £1.6m.

The 28-year-old's agent is still keeping the player's options open.

Soran Lerby told the BBC: 'This is a very, very strange situation for all of us.

'It’s not right that a footballer of this calibre is not playing, and that the crowds are not able to watch him.

'The Premier League is the top league in Europe, so of course it would appeal, but Wes would want to play for a top team.

'Wes just loves to play football and we need to find a solution.'
