Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says the English Premier League heavyweights 'made a mistake' not signing Sydney FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne. 

The friendly match at ANZ Stadium finished 2-0 to the Gunners, but it would have been far worse for the Sky Blues if it wasn't for Redmayne's stellar performance.  

'At the end of the day I'd say their goalkeeper was man of the match,' Wenger said at the end of the match, unaware Redmayne trialled at Arsenal as a teenager.

'I've always had a lot of faith in Andrew Redmayne,' Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold said.

'He's copped a bit of harsh criticism in the last couple of years but, two years ago, he helped the Wanderers to the grand final as well.'
