Man Utd set for transfer BATTLE with Arsenal over EXCITING £30m-rated Brazilian star

Man Utd and Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on the same target, with an exciting Brazilian talent set to cost one of them £30m…

The player in question is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred, with the 24-year-old impressing in midfield for the Ukrainian giants while also scoring twice and providing four assists in 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Further, he’s got six caps for Brazil to his name having featured heavily at the 2015 Copa America while he’s been a consistent performer for his club for the last five campaigns.

It’s claimed by The Daily Star that he will command a fee of around £30m and that aside from Arsenal and Man Utd being interested in acquiring his services, Napoli, Inter, Atletico Madrid and Valencia are all keeping tabs on the Brazilian ace.

However, perhaps more worryingly for Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are also said to have been paired with an interest.

In turn, it looks as though it could develop into quite the scrap for Fred’s signature, as he clearly must be doing something right to warrant all this reported attention from some of the biggest clubs around Europe.

Nevertheless, it could also raise a question mark as to whether United should even be considering a potential gamble, as given his lack of experience in one of the top leagues in Europe, it would be a risky investment at £30m to hope that he can make the step up and produce week in and week out.

So, should United be looking to pluck talents like Fred out and give them the platform to go on and do more? Or is Mourinho better off focusing on key marquee signings to really bolster his squad?
