Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho will welcome back key individuals to his squad from injury this weekend, and there could be some immediate returns to the line-up.
As noted by the club’s official website, Marcos Rojo, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are set to return and will be available for selection.
However, it’s now developed further, as seen in the tweets below from ESPN’s Rob Dawson and The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, which suggest that both Pogba and Rojo could even go straight back into the starting line-up against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Rojo hasn’t featured since last season after he suffered a serious knee injury, while Pogba has been sidelined since September after sustaining a hamstring injury in the Champions League encounter with Basel.
Given the lack of consistency and reliability at left-back from various different individuals, Rojo’s return will be welcomed with open arms while Pogba’s energy, flair and powerful play in midfield will make a huge difference to United who have dropped off the pace at the top of the Premier League table since he was ruled out with Man City now enjoying an eight-point lead over them.
In turn, it’s huge news for Mourinho to have them both back, while it’s added that Marouane Fellaini could get the nod in midfield too with Ibrahimovic on the bench and ready to offer competition for Romelu Lukaku.
The 36-year-old scored 28 goals and provided 10 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions last season, and so having him back available will give Mourinho a different option and more attacking firepower for the rest of the campaign.
Suggestions Pogba and Rojo could both start today. Fellaini, too. Herrera likely to be the one to miss out in midfield. Ibrahimovic on the bench.
