Manchester United are ready to pull out all the stops in their attempts to sign Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo according to The Sun.

The club have turned to their big guns in their quest to re-sign the player. United have instructed former manager Sir Alex Ferguson to do everything he can to tempt the player to Old Trafford.

Fergie and Ronaldo are thought to have a strong relationship from their time at Old Trafford together. Ronaldo has previously referred to Ferguson as a father figure to him.

It has been suggested that Ronaldo was disappointed upon hearing the news of his former mentor’s retirement at the end of last season.

Speculation regarding Ronaldo’s future has been rife over the last twelve months with the player having revealed he feels undervalued in the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo has been strongly linked with a move back to Manchester United after receiving an emotional response from the United faithful when he returned to Old Trafford for Real Madrid’s Champions League last sixteen tie.

United are hoping that Real Madrid could be tempted into selling Ronaldo should they become successful in their attempts to sign Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.

United are ready to make a bid of £65 million plus either Nani or Javier Hernandez in order to secure his signature.
