Goalkeeper David Marshall has withdrawn from the Scotland squad for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

Hearts' Jack Hamilton has been called up to replace the Hull player, who started the first three matches of this campaign but lost his place to Craig Gordon for November's loss to England.

Marshall, 32, has not started a league game for Hull since 2 January.

Matt Phillips, James McArthur and Grant Hanley pulled out of Gordon Strachan's squad at the start of the week.

Uncapped Leeds United defender Liam Cooper was drafted in as a replacement and was an unused substitute in Wednesday's 1-1 friendly draw with Canada.

Allan McGregor played in goals against the Canadians, with Celtic's Gordon expected to retain his place against Slovenia.

West Brom midfielder James Morrison missed the disappointing draw at Easter Road and remains an injury doubt, while Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser missed out on a debut after picking up a slight knock in training.

Celtic quartet Scott Brown, James Forrest, Kieran Tierney and Stuart Armstrong were rested for the Canada game, having played last Sunday.

Having been among the Derby substitutes for the past six games, Ikechi Anya played 90 minutes at right-back on Wednesday, with Norwich defender Russell Martin the only other player in the squad with experience in that position.

Scotland sit fifth in Group F after picking up only four points from their opening four games.
