Transfer news: Leon Goretzka told to forget about leaving Schalke amid reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham

Schalke insist that Arsenal and Tottenham target Leon Goretzka will NOT be sold this summer - despite his perilous contract situation.

The midfielder is about to enter the final year of his current deal with the German club and is not showing signs that he will pen an extension.

As such, it has been suggested that Schalke will cash in on him during the summer window to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months' time.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are long-term admirers of the 22-year-old, who can also play at full-back, while Juventus are interested too.

But now Schalke's general manager Christian Heidel has issued a hands-off warning to any club hoping to land him in the coming months.

Heidel told Bild: "Leon will not be able to change clubs this summer. He will remain at Schalke beyond this summer.

"We have sporting goals, that is why selling him prematurely does not make any sense to us.

"I do not want to negotiate with other clubs about Leon Goretzka."
