Sir Alex Ferguson once claimed having his hip replaced was not as painful as dealing with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

He was referencing Dimitar Berbatov's 2008 transfer, which saw Man United hand Tottenham £30m for the striker on deadline day. It was the last time the two clubs have dealt directly over players, but rumours are now circulating that the Red Devils want Eric Dier.

Central midfield is a position which manager Jose Mourinho is keen to strengthen and it is being reported that United will test Tottenham's resolve by offering £50m for the 23-year-old.
