‘There is no room for Olivier Giroud at Arsenal – it’s time to let him go’ – Stewart Robson says striker should be sold this summer

Olivier Giroud's time at Arsenal is over, according to former Gunner Stewart Robson.

The striker has fired 98 goals in 226 appearances for the north London club since his arrival from Montpellier in 2012.

But his future is in doubt following the arrival of fellow France international Alexandre Lacazette, and Robson believes a move away from Arsenal is in everyone’s best interests.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Robson said: "With Lacazette coming in, Welbeck still a good player when he is fully fit, I just don't think there is room for Olivier Giroud.

"He gives them something different because he is good in the air but I think it is time for him to leave and Arsenal to let him go."

Giroud is being linked with Everton and West Ham, while there are also reports he is being eyed by Borussia Dortmund.

Robson would be surprised to see him join a mid-table Premier League club, though, making a move to Bundesliga giants Dortmund more likely in his mind.

He added: "He wants to play as high as he possibly as he can and I'm not sure West Ham are going to be right at the top.

"Everton are spending money at the moment... but he has got to find the best possible club for him and they are going to have to pay him a lot of money so it might be difficult for him to move to a mid-table Premier League club.

"He will have to go that little bit higher I think."
