Gilberto Silva tells Jack Wilshere: It’s down to you whether you have an Arsenal future – LISTEN

Gilberto Silva has told Jack Wilshere his Arsenal future is in his own hands.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and, with 12 months left on his Gunners contract, is facing a make-or-break year at the Emirates.

Former Arsenal ace Silva, a fans’ favourite during his six-year spell in north London, insists Wilshere has talent to force his way back into Arsene Wenger's team but must show he is up for the fight.

Speaking to Ian Abrahams at the Star Sixes event at London's O2 Arena, the Brazilian said: "His career has been up and down at the club. He has got talent, that is for sure, but it is up to him.

"If he wants to have a good career at Arsenal, he must concentrate on his job. He has to do things properly for his career and for himself because it is not good for any player when you don't have a stable career.

"Following him since I left, he had so many games for the club and then started to change a little bit. He left the club, now he is back, and I hope this time he can recover the time has lost in his career.

"He can do things different. He has to concentrate on what he has got to do and recover from injury, because he has suffered quite a lot from injuries."
