Exclusive: Federico Fazio ‘practically a Tottenham player’

Sevilla’s Europa League-winning defender Federico Fazio is ‘practically a Tottenham player’ according to sources in Spain.

talkSPORT sources in Sevilla have confirmed that Fazio’s agent was in London yesterday to negotiate with Spurs, with the player ‘tired of waiting’ for Sevilla to improve his contract.

The source says Sevilla have been slow to open talks with the defender, having presumed Fazio would stay with them after he purchased a new home in the city, but the player "doesn’t feel wanted and has decided to leave".

The club are expected to make one more attempt to keep him at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, and there should be news in the coming 24 hours either way. Available for only €10m, Tottenham are unlikely to find a better central defender for the price.
